Terms of Use

Important safety limitation — please read
This app is a set of tools. It is not an emergency service, a medical device, or a monitored alarm system. Nobody is watching for your alerts.
In an emergency, contact your local emergency services first. The app depends on your phone having power, working hardware and — for anything that sends a message — cell signal. Any of those can fail. Do not rely on it as your only means of getting help, particularly in remote areas where a satellite messenger or personal locator beacon is the appropriate equipment.
1. Acceptance
By installing or using Offline Emergency Toolkit (“the app”) or this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use them.
2. Licence
The app is provided free of charge for personal use. You may install and use it on devices you control. You may not redistribute modified versions, resell it, or present it as your own product.
3. No warranty
The app is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Specifically, and without limiting that:
- SOS messages depend on cell signal and your carrier. Delivery is not guaranteed and is outside our control.
- GPS accuracy varies with conditions and hardware, and can be poor indoors, in valleys or under dense cover.
- Compass readings are affected by nearby metal, magnets and electronics and can be wrong without appearing wrong.
- Emergency numbers are provided for reference and may change. Verify them independently where it matters.
- First aid content is general reference material, not medical advice, and is not a substitute for training or professional care.
- Offline maps depend on data you downloaded in advance and on OpenStreetMap data being accurate for that area.
4. Not medical advice
The first aid guide is general information. It does not create a clinical relationship, is not tailored to any individual, and must not be used in place of assessment by a qualified professional. If someone is seriously unwell or injured, contact emergency services.
5. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, injury or damage arising from use of, or inability to use, the app or this website — including where an alert failed to send, a coordinate was inaccurate, or the app was unavailable. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, in which case those exclusions do not apply to you.
6. Your responsibilities
- Keep your device charged and your emergency contacts current
- Tell your emergency contacts that they are listed, and what to do if alerted
- Test what you intend to rely on before you need it
- Do not use the police-lights display to impersonate emergency services, or while driving
- Do not send SOS alerts as a test without warning your contacts, and never place a false call to emergency services
7. Third-party services
The app uses OpenStreetMap for map tiles and Google AdMob for advertising, each governed by its own terms. Distribution is through Google Play, which has its own terms of service.
8. Cost and advertising
The app is free. There is no paid tier and no subscription. Development is supported by banner advertising shown on non-emergency screens only — never on the SOS or flashlight screens.
9. Changes
These terms may be updated. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance. The date at the top reflects the current version.
